Today, we’re talking to Hadi about his experience with this service so far.

Q: Tell us about the type of treatments you can provide through virtual physiotherapy.

A: Treatment services through virtual physiotherapy include:

  • Consult with the patients to find out if they benefit from a virtual physiotherapy program
  • Educate regarding the prognosis, possible methods of treatment, posture, sleeping position, activity modification to improve the existing conditions and prevent further injuries.
  • Assess and advise home the environment in terms of work at home, work out at home
  • Exercise prescription, provide and progress a unique Home Exercise Program
  • Teach self-care hands-on techniques, such as self-massage, self-mobilization
  • Train how to use some modalities at home, such as TENS, heat, and cold

Q: What has the patient experience been like with virtual care?

A: Mostly they found it easy to access, beneficial to improve their condition.

They stated that connecting to a Physio through the virtual care avoided attending at a hospital which they had concern due to the new virus.

Also, they feel safe doing the provided exercises and techniques although they are not physically with the Physio.

Q: Can you share your favourite story of how you helped a patient with virtual care?

A: A patient after waiting so long had a joint replacement a few days prior to the new social distancing policy and she was discharged and referred to the community physio services.

Since there was no way to attend a clinic she was stressed and disappointed with her decision to do the surgery. She started the virtual treatment with some doubt, but she found herself connecting with the provided plan.

We addressed almost all her concerns and in a few weeks when she was discharged of care she stated that she feels fully independent and able to perform almost all her daily routines with no fear and risk.
