Are you looking to continue your rehabilitative treatment while practicing physical distancing and self-isolating?
Good news! pt Health now offers virtual physiotherapy, giving you the opportunity to receive treatment from the comfort of your own home through video conference technology.
Wondering how virtual physiotherapy works? In this Spotlight, we’ll share some first hand information from one of our physiotherapists with you.
Zabir Ghair, Physiotherapist at Four Seasons Physiotherapy – pt Health has been offering virtual physiotherapy here for the past few weeks.
Today, we’re talking to Zabir about his experience with this service so far.
Q: Tell us about the type of treatments you can provide through virtual physiotherapy.
A: Through virtual care, we can provide a range of self assisted, active & resisted exercises for all conditions: gait training, postural exs, and post-operative rehabilitation can all be provided through virtual care.
Q: What has the patient experience been like with virtual care?
A: Though many patients were unsure about how virtual care could actually be beneficial, since we have started providing it, the patients have all had a very positive response to it.
Not only have they been able to stay at home and avoid unnecessary exposure, but they feel doing the exercises and clarifying their doubts with the Physiotherapist has been very helpful in improving their condition.
Q: Can you share your favourite story of how you helped a patient with virtual care?
A: We had a patient who was actually supposed to come under OHIP, but the current situation did not allow him to. He had surgery for his shoulder and was waiting to start Physiotherapy.
We offered him the option of virtual care and though a bit apprehensive initially, he had a very good response after he had a detailed assessment session. I provided him with a few exercises to start with after I had completed his assessment.
The patient said he felt more confident and sure about what he was doing after his session. He was extremely pleased and has already booked his sessions for the next two weeks in advance.
