Darek Spoz
Massage TherapistSpeaks: English, PolishDarek graduated from Kikkawa College Massage Therapy School in 1992, after obtaining his degree in Physical Education in 1985. He is in good standing with the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario and the Ontario Massage Therapy Association. He concluded his training in various specialties of massage therapy techniques including; myofascial release, cranio-sacral therapy and others.
He has practiced massage therapy for the past 29 years, including 26 years at Melrose Physiotherapy. He also has extensive experience conducting assessments for Independent Assessment Centres.
Mohit Bhatt
PhysiotherapistSpeaks: English, Gujarati, Hindi, PunjabiMohit Bhatt is an internationally educated Physiotherapist from India. He studied at B.J. Medical college, Ahmedabad and graduated in 2019. He then completed a diploma in Fitness and Health promotion at Seneca college and currently is working with pt Health as a Physiotherapist.
Mohit's goal is to bring a positive change to society by helping people live a healthier life. His interests are orthopedics and sports medicine, and his favourite hobbies include photography and music.
He is certified in Acupunture and Dry needling.
Nikyia Ewen
Physiotherapy AssistantSpeaks: EnglishNikyia earned her Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology & Health Sciences at York University in 2021. She looks forward to applying her knowledge of healthcare practices by working with people to achieve their personal goals of health and wellness. In her spare time, she enjoys reading and learning new things.
Elise Kopman
Occupational TherapistSpeaks: EnglishElise completed her undergraduate degree at Western University in Health Sciences and graduated in 2018. Upon graduating, she went on to work at a clinic as a rehabilitation therapy assistant and then as a health and wellness coach. In 2020, she returned to Western to complete her Master’s in occupational therapy and graduated in 2022.
Elise has experience working in a variety of occupational therapy settings with various population groups. She has worked in outpatient orthopaedics, outpatient rehabilitation, and has experience working with individuals who have been involved in motor vehicle accidents. Elise believes in using a holistic and patient-centered approach to care to work together to achieve client goals.
Outside of work, Elise enjoys cooking, spending time with her friends and family, and travelling.
Swapna Surendran
PhysiotherapistSpeaks: English, HindiSwapna believes in an active approach to rehabilitation while maximizing your mobility, function and well-being in an effort to return you to your best functional level.
She brings forth her experience in a variety of health care settings including but not limited to hospitals, clinics, community care and academics. She believes in a client-centered approach while utilizing evidence-based practice.
During her spare time, she likes traveling, trail walking, and reading.
Mark Gerges
Physiotherapy AssistantSpeaks: English, ArabicMark graduated with a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology and health science from York university in 2021. He is a registered kinesiologist with the College of Kinesiologists of Ontario, as well as a certified personal trainer with ACE.
Shortly after graduating he worked as an exercise therapist in seniors’ wellness with Lifemark Health group. He is now excited to practice in a clinical setting where he wants to help others achieve their goals, and live life to its fullest.
Outside of work, Mark enjoys playing sports such as soccer and badminton.
Sumya Khudadad
PhysiotherapistSpeaks: English, FarsiSumya graduated with a Master of Science in Physical Therapy from Leeds Beckett University. She is trained in treating jaw pain, concussion injury, low back pain, urinary incontinence and a wide range of orthopaedic issues by applying a biomechanical approach.
She enjoys treating a wide range of clients varying from competitive athletes in the clinic to inpatient ICU and post-op cardiac patients in hospital settings. Sumya believes in active lifestyle, personalized exercise prescription, manual therapy and evidence-based practice in order to have a sustainable rehabilitation and prevent re-injury. Sumya has conducted and published a research article in Nursing Times journal on prevention and timely management of contractures in care home residents.
Outside of the physio world, Sumya enjoys running, hiking, and weight training.
KINJAL TAMAKUWALA
PhysiotherapistSpeaks: English, Gujarati, HindiKinjal graduated with a Bachelor's of Physical Therapy from Sarvajanik College of Physiotherapy from India, 2019. After that she completed a Fitness and Health Promotion course from Durham College, Canada. Since then, she has been working with inpatient and outpatient motor vehicle injuries, work injuries, sport injuries, chronic pain and other diverse populations in Calgary and is currently working with Melrose pt Health.
Kinjal holds certification in McKenzie level A and B as well as the Mulligan level A.
She believes strongly in manual therapy, individualized exercise prescription and educating patients to give them tools which they need to succeed after therapy has concluded.
Apart from physiotherapy, Kinjal likes to travel and explore new destinations with family and friends.
