PhysiotherapistSpeaks: EnglishMatthew completed his Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy in 2013 from Manchester Metropolitan University in Manchester, England. He went on to complete a Master of Rehabilitation Science with a manual therapy focus from the University of British Columbia, where he received close mentorship from top therapists in the profession, expertise in clinical reasoning and strong manual therapy/ joint manipulation skills. He is a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Manipulative Physiotherapy.
Matthew places strong emphasis on accurate assessment and diagnosis to truly identify the root of a client’s pain/dysfunction and believes in an individual approach to care with his clients. He believes in a holistic approach to rehabilitation and feels that the collective musculoskeletal, neurological, and psychosomatic systems must be addressed in order to achieve long-term success.
Matthew works with clients from all walks of life but has a particular interest in sports injury recovery/ return to sport, strength and performance, post-operative rehabilitation, and repetitive strain injuries/ tendinopathies.
Matthew considers himself a life-long student and is passionate about consistently expanding his knowledge base and keeping up to date on the latest literature to help his clients achieve their goals. He has taken additional post-graduate courses in Acupuncture and Intramuscular Stimulation (IMS/ Dry Needling).
Matthew is a firm believer in living a balanced healthy lifestyle. He is an avid soccer player, gym enthusiast and enjoys regular outdoor runs or hiking. He often promotes the values of a healthy lifestyle to his clients such as stress reduction, regular exercise, a balanced diet, and getting a full night of sleep due to the positive physiological effects they have on injury recovery.
Eric Eyolfson
PhysiotherapistSpeaks: EnglishEric completed both his Master’s degree in Physiotherapy and Bachelor's degree in Kinesiology from the University of Saskatchewan. Eric also obtained post-graduate certificates in AN-IMS Dry Needling, Mulligan Lower Quadrant, MOOC in Concussion, and his Level 1 Diploma in Advanced Integrated Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy.
As an outdoors enthusiast and former athlete, he has a keen interest in working with an active population of all ages. His treatment approach emphasizes an accurate diagnosis on assessment and collaboration to empower clients to return to activities they love most. Eric utilizes a variety of treatment methods and backs a strong therapeutic exercise knowledge from years of training. He is pursuing further training in orthopaedics, sports physiotherapy and persisting pain.
Outside of work, Eric enjoys making the most of all that BC has to offer. Running, cycling, camping and climbing are avid hobbies. He also participates in rec sports including golf, tennis, basketball and football. When it’s time to rest, you can find Eric playing his piano/guitar or relaxing at the beach with friends and family.
Chris vonSchellwitz
PhysiotherapistSpeaks: English, FrenchChris completed both his Bachelor degree in Human Kinetics and his Master’s degree in Physiotherapy from the University of British Columbia. He has an interest in working with athletes of all capacities, from the weekend warriors and recreational athletes to varsity and elite athletes. Currently, Chris is involved with the Vancouver Whitecaps residency program and has vast experience with coaching, managing, and playing soccer and ice hockey at all levels.
Chris’ treatment focuses on manual techniques and rehabilitation through strengthening and exercise programs. He is committed to keeping current with modern empirical evidence and continuing education in the field of orthopaedic and sports physiotherapy. Chris has most recently completed both the Arthritis Society's Getting a Grip on Arthritis® osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis education program.
Outside of the clinic, Chris can be found playing all sorts of recreational team sports but he also has a love for cycling. He just completed the GranFondo for the second year in a row while raising money for the BC heart and lung association.
Anthony Artuso
Massage TherapistSpeaks: EnglishAnthony is a registered massage therapist at Motion Physiotherapy. His interests are sports injuries, posture realignment, musculo-skeletal imbalance, headaches, TMJ disorders, craniosacral, MVA injuries, and other treatments.
Nicole Kinnear
Massage TherapistSpeaks: EnglishNicole is a graduate of West Coast College of Massage Therapy (WCCMT) and has been practising for the over 12 years. She utilizes skills learned in a variety of multidisciplinary settings into her current practice.
Her treatment style incorporates various techniques such as swedish/relaxation, myofascial release, trigger-point therapy, deep tissue, active release techniques, passive stretching and joint mobilizations. As a part of the treatment plan homecare stretches and exercises are also provided. Patient education is also a passion of hers and is a crucial element of her treatment program. Nicole is also fully equipped to provide pre and postnatal massage to expecting mothers.
In her free time you can find Nicole hiking and enjoying lake life, indulging in Vancouver's incredible food scene and playing board games with friends and family!
Tara Maki
Massage TherapistSpeaks: EnglishTara has worked in the field of Fitness and Wellness for over 20 years. As such she brings her knowledge of physical well being into her Massage Therapy practice, to help her clients achieve optimal physical productivity while restoring the body’s natural state of balance.
Believing strongly that massage therapy can be a valuable tool towards achieving physical, emotional, and mental wellness, Tara strives to always provide a safe and relaxing environment. She is informed, professional, and passionate about her craft.
She derives the satisfaction that comes with each session helping clients nurture and revitalize their bodies. For her, being a massage therapist is an opportunity to serve people, and so, she incorporates ethics and keen attention-to-detail to help them achieve their goals.
